Face Shape Detector: best photos and fixes.

The best photo

Face the camera straight on, chin level, with hair pulled back so your forehead and jawline are visible. Hair over the forehead or cheeks can throw off the estimate. A neutral expression works best; a big smile widens the lower face.

How the shape is found

Forehead, cheekbone and jaw widths are compared with each other and with face length. A long face is oblong; wide cheekbones with a narrower forehead and jaw are diamond; a wide forehead and narrow jaw are heart; similar widths with a short face are square or round; balanced proportions are oval.

Borderline results

Many faces sit between two shapes. If your result surprises you, try another photo; if it changes between two shapes, you are probably a mix of both, and advice for either will suit you.

Haircuts

The tips aim to balance your shape: height for round faces, softness for square jaws, width for long faces. To see a haircut on your own face before you cut, use the AI hairstyle changer.

Glasses

Frames that contrast with your face shape usually look balanced: angular frames on round faces, round frames on square faces. The AI glasses filter tries frames on your photo.

Just a guide

Face shape is one of many things that make a style suit you, along with hair texture, features and personal taste. Use the result as a starting point, not a rule.

Face Shape Detector FAQ.

Is the result always right?

It is a guide from one photo. Hair, angle and expression can push a face toward a neighbouring shape.

Can I try haircuts for my shape?

Yes. Use the AI hairstyle changer linked below to see them on your own photo.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The face model is downloaded to your browser once and runs there; your photo never leaves your device. Close the tab and it is gone.

Is it free?

Yes. Quick tools are free, need no sign-in and use no credits; your images stay in your browser. The AI tools linked below need an account.
