Cartoon to Realistic: best photos and fixes.

Images that convert well

A clear image of one character, large in the frame with the face visible, gives the most faithful realistic version. Character art, screenshots and fan art all work. Very simple stick figures or abstract styles leave a lot to guess, so the result can drift from the original design. Clean outlines and flat color convert better than rough sketches.

Choosing a look

Photo gives a natural realistic photograph. Movie still adds dramatic lighting and color grading, like a live-action adaptation. 3D realistic gives a detailed CGI character render, which can suit very stylized characters.

Keeping the design

Hairstyle and hair color, eye color, outfit, accessories and colors are kept, so the character should stay recognizable. Unusual features such as cat ears or horns are kept; write "no horns" to drop them. Proportions become realistic: huge anime eyes become normal eyes, and a big cartoon head becomes a normal head. Unnatural hair colors like pink or blue stay, as if dyed.

Animals and creatures

Cartoon animals become real animals with the same colors and expression: a grumpy cartoon cat becomes a real grumpy cat. Fantasy creatures become realistic creatures, which can look striking or strange; that's part of the fun. Name the species if it's unclear: "a real red fox".

Famous characters

You can upload famous cartoon and anime characters to see a realistic version for fan art and fun. Results are imagined interpretations. Keep them for personal use, since the characters belong to their owners.

Going the other way

To turn a real photo into a cartoon, use the cartoon generator or photo to anime. Sketch to photo turns a pencil drawing into a realistic image, and the 2d to 3d image converter turns flat drawings into 3D renders.

Cartoon to Realistic FAQ.

Can I use anime screenshots?

Yes, for personal fan art. Characters belong to their owners, so don't sell the results.

Will the character look the same?

The design, colors and outfit are kept; proportions become realistic, so faces change shape.

Does it work on animals?

Yes. Name the species if it isn't clear, such as "a real red fox".

Can it make adult content?

No. It won't make nudity or sexualized images of characters, and young characters stay young and fully clothed.
